Notebook Mary Magdalene
In the year 1518, an unknown artist painted an image on a wooden board. Signed only as "The Master of 1518", his masterpiece survived though his name did not. In the fall of 2021, I was looking for a practice piece to try new techniques and work on improving my own humble skills. This piece is the result. From the initial sketch on the canvas through the whole of glazing the paints, I did everything by hand (no projector, no preprinted canvas, etc). This is the result. I made minute changes from the original, mainly attempting to fix what 500 years of damage had wrought.
My original study is now available as a notebook.
Great for journaling, quick thoughts, note taking, and everything else you can think of.
